Marine Invertebrates
Many marine invertebrates (animals without backbones) are found in the intertidal zone: on rocky and sandy substrates in regions accessible during low tide. Most of these intertidal species are found in the subtidal zone as well; this area is usually submerged, but may be exposed during extremely low tides.
