Cryptopleura lobulifera
Identification
This red alga can be difficult to differentiate from other species in its genus, as well as Hymenena and Botryoglossum species. Cryptopleura species tend to have deeply lobed, often frilly-edged blades, with branching veins that are conspicuous near the blade base.
Habitat & Range
This species is found from southeastern Alaska to northern Mexico.
Similar Species
Similar species found along the Central Coast include C. ruprechtiana and Hymenena setchellii.
